GEO and AI search: what a website can prepare
How we prepare public pages for AI-assisted discovery without promising recommendations or citations.
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) describes work that helps AI-assisted search systems access and understand accurate information about a business. It is connected to SEO, not a shortcut around it. For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, a page must be eligible for ordinary Search and indexed with a snippet; Google says there is no special AI file or markup that guarantees inclusion.
Start with access
Check whether important pages can be crawled, whether robots rules and hosting controls permit the relevant search crawlers, and whether canonical URLs, internal links and the sitemap point to the right pages. Search crawlers and model-training crawlers have different purposes. A business can decide its access policy without treating those bots as interchangeable.
Make the answer useful
Explain each service in visible text, answer real customer questions, keep names and contact details consistent, and support claims with information that can be verified. Suitable structured data should match the visible page. Inventing dozens of thin “AI pages” or adding a magic file is not a substitute for useful content.
Review what happens
Where the tools allow it, look at indexing, search queries, referrals and citations from AI-powered experiences. Compare how the business is described in sample prompts over time, then correct gaps in the underlying content. A citation or recommendation depends on the platform and the user’s question, so no agency can guarantee one.
